GOD TV: Divine or Manufactured Outrage

GODTV is a menace but so is Daystar TV. So is Hayovel Ministry. First Fruits of Zion. CUFI. Interfaith bible study with evangelicals in Knesset. Businesses geared towards giving tours and Torah classes to messianic evangelicals. All of them are deadly to the Jewish soul and an abomination in a Jewish state. 

For far too long, religious Jews and politicians have been cozy with smiling evangelicals who lie through their teeth about their true agenda. This is a time for an honest discussion about the problem, and introspection and teshuva for those whose hands are sullied. The microscope is on GOD TV today. Baruch Hashem!  Let us seize the moment to examine the hundreds of other GODTV programs on the Israeli scene. We need a powerful spotlight to expose a problem which transcends GODTV. 

Hayovel Ministry: A Tragic Tale Of Jewish Collaboration With Missionaries

For years now, a handful of Jews have tried to expose Tommy Waller's "Hayovel Ministry", a crafty organization of evangelical missionizing in Israel. With their deceptive use of "relational evangelism" (a clever take on restoration theology), Hayovel accomplished an unbelievable thing. They formed relationships with religious Jews (including a small group of Rabbis) and successfully infiltrated religious communities. Twenty years ago this would have been unimaginable. Jews who would have dared to align with such people would have been ostracized by Torah-minded Jews in their own communities.

When Hayovel first came on the scene in Israel, their shocking candor showed their true intentions. As a result of these tactical errors, the earliest promotional videos were quickly removed, although they continue to make mistakes time and again. These occasional errors (less frequent today as they are groomed and taught by Jews how to behave ) occasionally compel Tommy Waller to engage in his patented apologies where he chalks up Hayovel's errors to a "learning process". Inevitably they still make mistakes, thus continuing the predictable cycle of Waller's breast-beating "apologies".

Although they are clever students, sometimes the truth comes out in other ways. Occasionally a video that wasn't supposed to be released shows us Hayovel's true "heart" when in an intimate American home-setting with fellow believers. In such settings, Waller can be seen praying for Jewish souls and explaining that his organization helps Jews discover "their messiah".

Hayovel is having a Livestream conference today featuring prominent religious Jews who've aligned and collaborated with them. The most tragic aspect of the story is that so many of the worst players in this saga are religious Jews. Some actually believe the distorted rationalizations they use to justify halachically problematic/prohibited associations. The sincerity of others is more suspect when you consider the enormous economic benefit they receive from these historically unprecedented associations and the inevitable explosion of libel and slander when the facts are exposed.

The notorious "Hayovel Ministry" has a new "Christian" Pesach Hagadah. Shame on all the Jews in Israel, who are associated with this  pernicious missionary organization. When this Corona virus madness is finished G-d willing, there will be a tremendous need for Jewish employment in Eretz Yisrael. It's bad enough that Jewish communities and vintners sold out the Jewish people for the free labor of evangelical missionaries. When this quarantine is finished, with G-d's help these Jews will learn from the lesson of an unprecedented worldwide pandemic and do teshuva (repentance), cease all of their associations with missionary organizations such as "Hayovel", and start employing Jews to tend their vineyards. With G-d's help this will be an opportunity for the Jewish people to learn and grow from this latest challenge.

Holding Hands With A Soul-Snatcher: United Hatzalah of Israel Meets Calev Myers (Audio-Visual Presentation)

Calev Myers (excellent article from Diane Bederman) is one of the most dangerous and clever missionaries in Israel. He is so toxic that even the most unscrupulous Jews on the scene today who openly cavort with Hayovel and other missionaries wouldn't dare align themselves with him. And yet somehow, United Hatzalah of Israel managed to step into this viper's nest, when they joined his upcoming ARISE Conference as a summit partner. Even more disturbing is that the flyer lists Hatzalah's Dov Maisel's as a speaker. I have a lot more to write about Calev Myers and Hatzalah's shameful behavior. In the interim, I will share some links on Myers from  JewishIsrael.

As soon as I became aware of this shocking story, I contacted Hatzalah. Out of respect for their excellent work, I tried to keep everything quiet with the hope that Hatazalah would do the right thing and extricate themselves properly from the event. I was disappointed in a way that I can't even begin to describe. While Hatzalah claims to have exited the event, they have failed to make a public statement on the matter, nor do they have a sensible explanation for why they still remain on the flyer. The event is 14 days away and Hatzalah still doesn't seem to understand the severity of their actions with this fiasco, past and present. Many have tried to get in contact with them and they've clearly been playing games. I've heard from people with an inside connection that United Hatzalah is playing nice with Myers. Big mistake. So the desecration of Hashem's Name only grows stronger as United Hatzalah doubles down on their mistake. Contact United Hatzala of Israel and demand that they make an unequivocal statement on this egregious chillul Hashem!
